FAQ
Fair questions, straight answers
When is the service fee charged?+
Only when you engage counsel. The 15% Technology Service Fee is calculated on counsel's quoted fee and shown as part of the total before you accept. Browsing, intake, and matching are free.
What does escrow actually mean here?+
When you accept a quote, you pay the full total into escrow via Paystack. Counsel sees the fee is secured and begins work. The funds are released to counsel when you confirm the engagement is complete.
What if something goes wrong mid-engagement?+
Docket has a structured dispute process. While a dispute is open, escrowed funds stay protected until it is resolved.
Do lawyers pay to be on Docket?+
No. Joining, verification, and listing are free for counsel. Counsel quote their own fees and receive them in full — the service fee is charged to the client on top.
