The Technology Service Fee, explained
Docket charges clients a single Technology Service Fee (TSF) of 15% on top of the fee their lawyer quotes. That is the entire pricing model. No subscriptions, no listing fees for counsel, no charges for browsing or requesting matches.
The TSF funds what the platform does: verifying counsel before they can accept matters, securing payments in escrow, operating the matter and court-tracking workflow, and running support and dispute resolution when engagements need help.
Why it's structured this way
You only pay when you actually engage counsel — the platform earns nothing unless a real engagement happens. And because the fee is a fixed percentage agreed at the same moment as counsel's own fee, the total cost is known before any work begins. The number on the screen is the number you pay.
